THE MOST MYSTERIOUS SONG ON THE INTERNET
PRINT MAGAZINE SPREADS
OVERVIEW
BRIEF
This project called for me to make a magazine cover, along with 6 spreads, using text from the article, “The Unsolved Case of the Most Mysterious Song on the Internet” written by David Browne for the Rolling Stone.
I took inspiration from the mysterious nature of the context surrounding this article topic. The cover displays the title of the article, along with city buidings making the shape of a question mark. A window of one of these buildings is zoomed in on more and more as the reader moves further through the magazine.
SPREAD DETAILS
SPREAD #1
The first spread in the magazine features a top view of a city, but warped. The lit window with the figure becomes more obvious, especially with the quote right below. All images have been drawn with the vector tool in Adobe Illustrator.
SPREAD #2
For the second spread, I took guitars and put city buildings within their silhouettes. The lit window becomes more in view, as the light from it has spilled out and illuminated a quote.
SPREAD #3
A violin becomes a huge focus of the third spread, as light is spilled out of the window in one of the city buildings within the instrument and highlights a block of text.
SPREAD #4
In the final spread, the buildings make up a saxophone and on the second page, the buildings are warped and upside down. A window in both images displays the illuminated window with the silhouette. Like past spreads, the light from the window highlights a block of text.
