4AD CALENDARS

11′ X 17′ POSTERS

OVERVIEW

BRIEF

The project aimed to create a calendar that visually interprets The Pixies’ music, translating the emotional and thematic essence of each song into graphic design. Drawing inspiration from the innovative work of 4AD Records in the 1990s, particularly Vaughan Oliver’s designs, I sought to reflect the same creative spirit in my work.

I explored The Pixies’ discography, from Trompe Le Monde to Waves of Mutilation, selecting lyrics that resonated with me and tying them to specific months as the foundation for each design. This process resulted in a personal and visual response to the raw energy of their music.

The project brought together multiple creative disciplines. Every element—including photography, painting, illustration, and digital editing—was created and refined by me. Starting with initial sketches, I developed each piece into a bold, dynamic composition that blends graphic design with fine art.

The calendar features 12 months, beginning with the cover and concluding with a “13th Month of Jack,” a nod to Vaughan Oliver’s tradition of adding an extra month. This project showcases my ability to merge music, art, and design into a cohesive and impactful visual experience.
